ProctorU is a secure 3rd party online proctoring service that allows test-takers to conveniently complete an assessment from a laptop or desktop (not compatible with Chromebook, tablets, or mobile device) while being virtually proctored. Depending on how your instructor has set up the exam, you will either be required to use ProctorU Live+ or ProctorU Review+. Detailed instructions for using each service and what you can expect on exam day can be found on the following page.

Preparing for your ProctorU Exam

3+ Days Before your Exam:

To use ProctorU, test-takers must first download the Guardian Browser
If you are a new ProctorU user or it has been more than a year since you last used their services, you will need to create a ProctorU account
Log into your ProctorU account and schedule the date and time you would like to take your exam:
- Login to your ProctorU account and click the "Schedule New Session" button
- Confirm your institution, term, and exam name, then click "Search Sessions"
- Use the calendar and clock features on the left to select your desired testing date and time
- Schedule your exam a minimum of 72 hours in advance to avoid on-demand scheduling fees!
Test Your Equipment in advance and address any issues identified before testing day
Be sure that you meet the minimum system requirements

Day of Exam:

Close all programs and unplug any secondary monitors
Clear cookies and cache
Restart your computer to maximize computer speed
Ensure you are located in a private, quiet, and well-lit room
If possible, plug directly into router vs. using Wi-Fi
Use the restroom - breaks during the exam may not be permitted
Clear your work area
Remove sunglasses, headphones/ear buds, and non-religious head coverings
Have a valid photo ID ready to authenticate your identity
Have a hand-held mirror/reflective surface or mobile phone ready so you can show the front of your monitor

If you previously used ProctorU, you may have been prompted to download and run the LogMeIn Rescue chat applet. Good news! Effective starting in Fall 2024, students will no longer need to use LogMeIn Rescue on exam day. Instead, an Integrated Chat feature will automatically connect you to a proctor when you being your session which will streamline the exam start process.
