Instructions

It takes some effort to take exams over Zoom. It is my hope that by completing a few tasks and the associated quiz everyone will feel conformable with the technology for taking the upcoming test on Zoom.

Thank you for taking the time to plan ahead!!

The steps below must be completed before taking this quiz

  • If you have any questions, please send me a Canvas Inbox message
  • Please DO NOT confirm that you have completed something that you really have not done.

1) GET THE ZOOM APP: Download the Zoom Cloud App to your phone.  Try the Zoom link https://zoom.us/j/93979725600 prior to test time. You'll see a message that the host has not started the meeting.

2) TEST YOUR PHONE CAMERA SETUP: It is very important that you know how you are going to be set up for Zoom proctoring before the test starts.  This is to minimize any discussion about set up so that we are not interrupting others at the beginning of the test by needing to change your set up.  If you are not set up correctly, you will not be able start the test and everyone will be interrupted as we figure it out, so please make an effort to actually practice this before test/exam day.

You should be set up at a quiet table or desk that does not have anything on it except for: a computer, blank pieces of scrap paper, pen/pencil, and your calculator.

Your phone will be propped up far enough away so that I see you on Zoom like this :

Please make sure that I will be able to see your hands, calculator, and workspace at all times during the test. Your phone needs to be far enough away from you so that I have a proper view of everything, please.

DO NOT assume this will just happen on test day.  Please turn on your phone camera now (like you are taking a selfie) and practice to make sure you have a plan to set the phone up securely so that you look like the picture shown above (don't just assume you know what is going on, please use your camera and practice a secure set up). A mug and eraser or notebook can help to prop your phone. I hope this will help us get the test started without any stress. Thank you for your help in making this work on Zoom!!

Make sure your phone is fully charged for the test.

3) LOCKDOWN BROWSER TEST:  Take the LockDown Browser Practice Test (3 questions - right or wrong answers don't matter) in ALEKS to ensure that your computer is compatible with the LockDown Browser in ALEKS

4) CALCULATOR:  The only departmentally approved calculator for BCCC students in this class is the TI30XIIS (not multiview).  Please contact me via the inbox if you do not have this model calculator at this time.

It looks like this:

I hope that you will feel calm about taking an test/exam on Zoom once you have completed these tasks.

Now you are ready to take this quiz and confirm that you are prepared to take the first test on Zoom.

Thank you for the effort it takes to have a proctored test/exam over Zoom. It takes teamwork!
