Copy & Share Course Items Using Direct Share
There are three ways to share content in Canvas.
- If you want to share simple content between your own courses or with someone else, you can use Direct Share. (See
below on what you CANNOT share with this method. There are limitations!!)
- If you wish to share content with others, content that cannot easily be shared via Direct Share, use Canvas Commons. See the Canvas Guide on How to Use Canvas Commons.
- If you wish to share content between your own courses that cannot easily be shared via Direct Share, use Canvas' Course Import Tool (links to a previous BOLT.) You do not have to import an entire course. The import tool can be used to import individual or multiple selected items.
Direct Share
Instructors can now copy individual course items to another of their own courses as well as share course items with other users using the Direct Share feature option.
NOTE: If the content being shared or copied includes other content in the course (such as a quiz that includes a file or image), only the direct content item selected for sharing/copying will be included. The additional files must be shared/copied individually.
